I had the honor of appearing before the New Jersey Supreme Court on November 29th in Moynihan v. Lynch. This is a case addressing Palimony agreements and the 2010 Amendment to the Statute of Frauds governing contracts. The Amendment requires that such agreements for support between unmarried individuals be:
in writing
signed by both parties and
with the independent advice of counsel for both parties
It has been a fulfilling professional experience to handle this case starting with the trial in Burlington County in 2018, all the way through the Appellate Division, and lastly, to the New Jersey Supreme Court. The privilege of appearing at our highest court is something that most attorneys never get the opportunity to do. I am grateful and I am better for the experience.
